No, that’s what makes this system so special.  It uses a solvent cement made from the same resin as the pipe, called Corzan which is applied to the pipe and fitting to create a chemical fusion. If you can solvent cement regular PVC pipe you can use ChemDrain.  This proprietary solvent cement can be ordered through Primark when ordering your pipe and fittings.

You can easily calculate this by using the information found on page 31 of the ChemDrain Technical and Installation Manual.  The chart lists the avg. number of joints per quart of cement for each pipe size.  This information is also found in the Charlotte Pipe Tech Tools App.

No, except for pipe over 6”-8” in diameter or pipe that will be in extreme hot, cold or wet conditions.

Chem Drain is highly resistant to many chemicals in both diluted and continuous waste.  Refer to our chemical resistance chart found on our website or the chemical resistance guide in the Charlotte Tech Tool App for more information on suitability for specific chemicals.

ChemDrain has a comprehensive list of chemical suitability’s found as a downloadable document on our site or in our Technical and Installation Manual. You can also search thousands of chemicals and their suitability in the Charlotte Pipe Tech Tools App.

  • Laboratories
  • Hospitals/Medical
  • K-12 schools, colleges and universities
  • Research facilities
  • Pharmaceutical
  • Paper Mills
  • Biotech facilities and anywhere chemicals may be disposed of in drains.
  • It is highly competitive to the cost of polypropylene which is the cheaper of the options available here in Canada. The biggest advantage over other products is the simplicity to install saving time and labor costs.

Assembly instructions

Step 1: Measure & Mark:
Measure and Mark where you want to make the cut with a tape measure and pencil

Step 2: Cut Pipe:
Cut the pipe square with the axis. You can use, a hand saw, miter saw, cut off saw & rachet cutter

Step 3: Remove Burrs & Bevel:
Remove burrs and bevel edges to a 10 °-15 ° angle. You can use a knife edge, file or deburring tool.

Step 4: Clean & Dry:
Clean and dry your pipes and fittings.

Step 5: Dry Fit:
With light pressure, the pipe should easily go in ½ – 2/3 of the way in to the fitting hub.  Pipes that are too tight or too loose should not be used.

Step 6: Prime & Cement:
Unlike PVC, Chem Drain pipe does not require priming except for 6”-8” sizes or in wet, very hot or cold conditions. In this case a good primer is recommended to ensure a well bonded joint. Apply cement to 1 ½” beyond the hub depth and then to the fitting socket

Step 7: Assemble:
While the glue is still fluid, insert the pipe into the hub using a quarter turn while the pipe is being inserted

Step 8: Clean Up:
Remove any excess glue with a rag. You want to see a continuous bead of cement around the joint.
